Running Accomplishments:

I have placed in the top three of my age group in the Valley of Fire half marathon twice I believe. (doing this from memory) I placed 2nd in my age group for the Coyote challenge one year for the 5K. (once more from memory, dont remember the year, gotta look it up.) and ran varsity cross country and track and field in High School. weee! Also ran at Dixie State last season, was the fastest but it was a lovely learning experience and oppertunity!

Short-Term Running Goals:

hmmm, I want to drop my 5K times to 25 minutes and change.

I want to run the Diamond Valley Half Marathon all the way through comfortably.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Complete a half marathon in under 2 hours. Complete a marathon in under 5 hours.

Actually make it to run the St George marathon. (have planned on it but never really set my sights high and trained well to be confident enough to do it. One day...in my life-time hence long-term...I want to Boston Qualify. =) one day. ;-)

keep running strong and consistantly

Personal:

my family is pretty much the most amazingest you can ever meet. (no biases of course lol) st george is super awesome and i love it. I love running, its fun but also relaxing and it truly does help you mentally physically and any other way you need. =)

Well, this blog will be something new for me, but also fun! I did five miles today and it was HARD! I haven't ran consistantly in awhile so to go and do five miles took its toll...not to mention it was hot and had two yucky hills. BUT! I did it, and basically only because Ruth (the most amazing runner ever, she is my hero) ran with me and cheered me on, encouraged me and helped me through. She is basically the best and I could not have done it with out her. yeah, I did walk, probably about a mile towards the end, I think I was dehydrated but Ruth helped me through. So I made a goal, from this point forward I will work hard and not give up. =)  Hoorah!

Alright! I really appreciate all the encouragement and welcomings from everyone, thanks!

As for my run today, I took the advice I received last night and ran slow and steady so I could control my breathing. I timed myself and I averaged 11.93 minute miles.  Pretty slow, but I could breath and feel comfortable which is GREAT! So I figure if I keep that up for a couple of weeks until I am back in shape and my lungs are in shape and my endurance is well, then I can pick it up a little bit. But I think I will wait for the super intense stuff for when the season starts in August and just focus on being injury free and putting in lots of miles.

My run was great. I felt good, there was nice shade and a windy breeze but not too bad. my legs felt fine and I could breath lol. Runs like these are one of the reason that makes running worth it, where it is just so nice! hoorah for that! thanks everyone again!

Another nice run today! hurray! I averaged 11.59 minute miles for the same distance I did yesterday, only difference was time of day and todays route I took was a more direct route, with less shade. lol Im not sure if I prefer it yet. Over all my breathing was great, I felt great mostly. My left hamstring felt stiffish earlier today and was a little stiff during the run. Im not sure why its just my left hamstring and not my right but it doesnt hurt, just feels stiff. There is a pool at my apartment so I am thinking I will go swimming later for some therapy =D and its just plan ole hot outside. lol

Thanks for all your encouragement and comments again. It sure is motivating!

So today was a crummy running day. My legs felt like lead, my body ached and the heat really bothered me. and my hamstring is still tight... =( it felt better after the shorter distance. I didnt even time myself...yesterday I didnt run at all cause of the hamstring and giving blood =D

monday will be better for sure!
